The new committee wish to introduce themselves and their roles to you all in an effort to further improve the good work that has been achieved in their roles before them and to make physoc a bigger and better part of the Southampton university experience of every undergrad and postgrad physics student here.

future events
For the last social before the Easter holidays we’re heading to Vodka Revs in town on the 18/3 (WEDNESDAY!). Meeting in the Stags Head at 7.30pm and getting the bus into town at around 8.30pm. We will most likely stop off in a pub first. Its 2-4-1 cocktails and flavoured vodka with your student card (or society card if you have one!) and there is a smart casual dress code so keep those trackie bottoms at home guys! Trainers are allowed (as long as they aren’t sports trainers…)
After the holidays there is a plan to go to Playzone in Portsmouth and Chris and John are looking for willing drivers to ferry people down. Petrol money will of course be split, so if you have a car and are willing to drive some giddy little kids… I mean physicists… to playzone email events@physoc.org.uk as soon as possible! Or speak to Chris and John about it.
upcoming sports
For the Summer intra-mural program, Physics have entered 2 6-a-side football teams, a squash team and a joint rugby 7s team with Maths.
past sports matches
The 11-a-side football season has come to an end, with the Wednesday team finishing second in their league (winning silver medals), and the Sunday team waiting on other results, but remaining hopeful that they can finish in a medal winning league position, despite their valiant defeat on Sunday.
outreach
The outreach team are looking for 3/4 enthusiastic individuals with their minds set on a career in teacher or that want to work with children after they graduate. They will be working with Matt in many schools in activities ranging from HE talks to experiments and workshops. It will look great on any CV and is an excuse to play with liquid nitrogen and fire! (Though not at the same time)
past events
The physoc golden globes social on the 26/2 was a big success with a great turn out and some interesting costumes and props…not to mention photos! The winning team was “The Adventures of Agent K-Dawg”. All the camera photos are on Chris Fowler’s facebook page!
Last week the physoc Big(ish) Quiz was graced by around 35 physicists and turned out to be a great laugh and even had a limbo round! Round of applause for events for a fantastic evening guys!
